1. What information do we collect?

We understand that you expect to learn more about our company when you visit our websites. Similarly, we hope to learn about your needs as a current or potential customer through your visits to our websites.

We collect only the personal information necessary to provide you with our products and services. We will not, as a condition of providing our products or services to you, require you to consent to the collection, use or disclosure of personal information beyond what is necessary to achieve the specified legitimate purposes. Information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.

a. Personal information

Personal information includes any information about an identifiable individual, which means any information that relates to you and identifies you personally, either alone or in combination with other information.

On some of our websites, you can ask questions and register to receive information. We will then ask you for the personal information necessary for us to reply (e.g. name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number). If you choose not to provide us with personal information, you can still access our websites; however, you may not be able to participate in certain promotions or receive product information offered through Auto-Chem’s websites or interactive advertisements.

In some cases, we may also collect information about you that you voluntarily submit, such as general statistical information like age, gender, household size, zip code, preferences and interests.

b. Data collection and statistics

Auto-Chem may collect certain aggregate data called Web log information (such as your Web browser, operating system, pages visited, etc.) and use cookies when you visit many of our Web pages. Our cookie practices are described in section 2 below.

2. Third-party cookies and web analytics

When you visit one of our Web sites or interactive advertisements, we may collect certain aggregate information for our use. For example, when you visit one of our Web sites, our Web server will automatically recognize certain information, including, but not limited to, the date and time you visited our site, the pages you viewed, the referrer (the Web site you came from), the type of browser you’re using (for example, Chrome, Edge and Firefox), the type of operating system you’re using (for example, Windows or Mac OS) and the domain name and address of your Internet service provider (e.g., Rogers). This information, which does not identify you directly, is collected using “cookie” technology. Our cookies may store certain information on your computer. This information will be in the form of a small text file, also known as a “cookie”. Cookies help us in many ways to make your visit to our websites more enjoyable and meaningful for you. For example, cookies prevent you from having to choose your country/language each time you return to one of our websites. They also enable us to tailor a website or advertisement to better match your interests and preferences. Most browsers can be configured not to accept cookies, or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Please see https://youradchoices.ca/en/tools for some of these options.

Our cookies cannot read data off your hard drive, cannot read cookie files created by other Web sites and will not be used to identify you. If you delete or reject a cookie, you can still use our Web sites.

We use third-party web analytics services on our websites, including Google Analytics and tools offered by the Meta, Tik Tok, LinkedIn and Pinterest platforms. These service providers, which use automated technologies such as cookies and pixels to collect and analyze certain types of technical information, help us understand how visitors use our website and provide advertising services, including interest-based advertising or advertising targeted to your interests. Interest-based ads are ads that are presented to you based on your browsing behavior in order to provide you with ads that are more tailored to your interests. These interest-based advertisements may be presented to you when you browse our website or third-party sites that do not belong to Auto-Chem.

Please visit these third-party sites to review their privacy policies and manage their cookies and other tracking technologies, and for information on how to opt-out of certain of these practices.

Google Analytics is a web analytics service that provides basic statistics and analytical tools for search engine optimization and marketing purposes. For more information on Google, visit: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Google offers an unsubscribe mechanism at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/.

To find out more about interest-based advertising and your rights and options to unsubscribe, visit http://youradchoices.ca/choices/. Please note that if you choose to opt-out, you will continue to see advertisements on our website and may see advertisements about us on other websites, but they will not be based on how you browse and interact with our website.

3. What do we do with your information?

We will use the information you provide to better understand your needs and to provide you with better products and services. At the most basic level, we will use the information you provide to communicate with you, to inform you about our products and services and to personalize our websites for you. Web logs may be used if necessary to help identify anyone attempting to penetrate or damage our websites. We may share Web log information with law enforcement agencies to prevent or investigate a breach of computer security or related laws.

Periodically, we may survey you about your use of products for further market research or to provide you with marketing information that we believe will be of value to you. Of course, you do not need to participate in these surveys, nor do you need to accept this marketing information.

4. Will the information be shared with third parties?

Occasionally, we may share personal information about you (such as your name, mailing address and e-mail address) with Auto-Chem suppliers, contractors or partners (such as our web hosting provider, advertising agency, consultants, etc.) in connection with services that these individuals or entities perform for or with Auto-Chem. These suppliers, contractors or partners are not permitted to use this data in any way other than to provide services to Auto-Chem, and they may not share or resell this data.

We always require a comparable level of privacy protection from third parties for any personal information they may access or process in the course of providing services to us.

We may also share personal information about you with our affiliates in order to offer you products or services that may be of interest to you.

We will not sell the information you provide to us to third parties.

5. Storage and cross-border transfers

Personal information may be accessed by persons within our organization, or our service providers, who require such access to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Statement, or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

The personal information we collect is managed from our offices in Canada, the United States and Australia. We may also use service providers located outside your jurisdiction and, where applicable, your personal information may be processed and stored in a jurisdiction other than yours, and may therefore be subject to access or disclosure to foreign law enforcement authorities under the laws of those jurisdictions.

6. We limit the disclosure, use and/or retention of your personal information

In exceptional circumstances, we may have the legal obligation or right to collect, use or disclose your personal information without your knowledge or consent. In accordance with applicable laws, we will not disclose personal information without your consent, except where customer information must be disclosed, for example for: (i) for the purposes of collecting a debt owed by the individual to the organization; (ii) in order to comply with a legal requirement; (iii) where the information is public to the extent permitted by law; (iv) where reasonable for the purposes of investigating a breach of an agreement or actual or suspected illegal activity; (v) in the case of a merger, acquisition, sale or divestiture of assets or other similar business transaction for purposes of evaluating and completing the business transaction, in accordance with the requirements of applicable law; and (vi) otherwise as permitted or required by applicable law.

Where required or permitted to disclose personal information without consent, we will not disclose more information than is necessary.

We will retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, and to meet our legal and contractual obligations. We will use specific retention periods, after which personal information is destroyed or made anonymous.

9. References

Occasionally, visitors will have the opportunity to forward product information on our websites to friends/relatives or to send messages from our websites or interactive advertisements to friends/relatives. The personal referral information you provide to facilitate this communication is used on an ad hoc basis or stored solely for analysis purposes, and is not used by Auto-Chem to recontact referred persons, except in cases where we obtain the consent of the persons you have referred to receive communications from us. By providing us with the personal information of others, you represent and warrant that you have their consent to do so.

10. Data security

Auto-Chem is committed to protecting the data you provide to us and will take reasonable precautions to protect your personal information from loss, misuse or alteration.
